Ciao ragazzi, da perfetto niubbo di linux accorro a voi per un problema....

ora vi spiego meglio....

Dunque, ho installato Gusty sull' HD insieme a XP SP2, facendomi manualmente le partizioni da liveCD, tutto liscio (credo), fino al momento del boot.... ossia non mi compare la voce di WinXP da Grub! ma solo le 3 opzioni di avvio di Ubuntu (a mie parole):

"Normale"
"In modalità provvisoria"
"Memtest"

Ora vi sto scrivendo da Gusty, ma per me è indispensabile accedere a Winzoz!

Ora sono al lavoro e non ho sottomano il menu.lst di casa, ma se per strani motivi in fase di installazione Gutsy non ha scritto in modo corretto il menu.lst del Grub, puoi sempre aggiungerlo manualmente.
Apri un terminale, digita: sudo gedit (invio)
inserisci la password
Apri nella directory di root il file /Boot/grub/menu.lst
aggiungi alla fine queste righe:

Questo è uno script generico, ovviamente tu dovrai personalizzarlo, coerentemente con la denominazione logica della/e tue unità disco.
Se ne hai uno solo, nel quale hai sia la partizione di Windows (primaria) e quella di Ubuntu, è la situazione più semplice.

nel terminale digita: blkid
e postami il risultato!

Dammi anche il risultato da terminale di: sudo fdisk -l

Per sicurezza, postami anche il tuo attuale menu.lst (come detto prima lo trovi nella cartella Boot/Grub della partizione di root)

Poi avevo gia provato ieri ad accedere col terminale al file menu.lst, ma non mi fa assolutamente inserire la mia password! (assurdo!)
Cmq il risultato di blkid è:

Editato.... dopo aver provato Super Grub Disk è cambiato... ma sembra che non ho selezionato bene le opzioni perchè prima ero entrato SOLO in WinXP, ora solo in Ubuntu.. e quello è il menu.lst attuale.

Dopo aver provato il comando "sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst" sono finalmente riuscito ad avere i permessi sul file menu.lst!

riavvia la macchina e dovresti trovarti con il menu della schermata di boot con la voce "Windows XP Professional" nell'ultima riga, selezionala e dai invio!!!

Se non funziona fammi sapere, che troviamo il motivo e la soluzione (sicuro al 100%)!

P.S. la password è esattamente la stessa che digiti al login di sistema, dopo aver inserito il tuo user-name, per poter entrare nel tuo desktop!!!!

Il fatto che mi "fregava" è che non mi comparivano nel terminale i caratteri che digitavo, ma poi leggendo sul WIKI del sito di Ubuntu, ho scoperto che non compaiono per motivi di sicurezza, quindi si digita la psw e... INVIO!

Provo quanto prima il tutto e vi faccio sapere...... THX!
